Description
Under the National Standard for Commercial Vessels (NSCV) the following vessels classes are required to carry a Scale D Medical Cabinet in addition to a Scale F First Aid Kit:
- Class 1D โ Unberthed passenger vessels operating offshore (up to 200 nm)
- Class 1D โ Berthed passenger vessels operating offshore (up to 200 nm)
The medical equipment and supplies in the Scale D Medicine Cabinet are suitable for single incident events involving 1 or 2 persons and are based on the assumption that medical assistance can be obtained within 12 hours.ย If a vessel will be greater than 12 hours from help, and/or there will be more than 10 people on board, a more comprehensive Medicine Cabinet should be considered.ย The pharmacists at Vessel Medic can provide guidance on this.
